The Sacramental Preparation Process
Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation and the beginning of a life-long journey. Infant Baptism Preparation Sessions for Parents/Godparents is held every month, with Baptism to follow. Interested parents/godparents MUST attend a Baptism Preparation Session.
First Eucharist Preparation prepares persons, age 7 and older, to join the larger community to feast at the table of the Lord. Includes preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. NOTE: Children must be registered in a religious education class for at least one year prior to receiving a sacrament.
Confirmation Preparation: to lead persons, high school age and older, to a closer relationship with Christ so to better live out discipleship in the Church and secular community. High school Confirmation is a two-year process. Adults interested in the Sacrament of Conformation are asked to contact the Religious Education Department directly.
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults/Children): for persons who are not Catholic (and have an interest in becoming Catholic), baptized Catholic (but not brought up in the Catholic faith), or anyone interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. Interested persons are instructed in Catholic doctrine and practice to enable them to discern better the call of God to the conversion of life. This includes preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. The usual length of preparation is from one to two years..
