Purpose: To work assisting our pastor and parish
families in planning and coordinating the funeral Mass and services.
Duties: Volunteers assist our Pastor and Deacons and families who
have lost a loved one in planning coordinating the Funeral Mass and services.
Volunteers are needed for the services which may occur during the day, evening
or on weekends, so flexibility is needed. Bereavement needs planners, lectors,
musicians and altar servers. Training and support material is provided.
Requirements: To be available to assist to either morning, afternoon or weekend services as needed. Minimal training is required for planners Support material is available.

Purpose:
CCD provides for the religious formation of the youth of the
parish and includes preparation for the sacraments of Holy Communion and
Confirmation. Accommodation is provided for special needs students and children
older than seven years old who have not been baptized (RCIC). CCD needs
teachers, classroom aides, and assistance in special activities such as retreats
and community-building gatherings. Teachers or aides need not be licensed
teachers but should be open to attending diocesan teacher education classes and
workshops to enhance their knowledge of their faith and Church teachings. All
teachers and aides must also attend in-service workshops and meetings. A
Student Handbook is provided with a schedule. Elementary grades (K-6) are held
on Saturday mornings; upper grades (7-High School/Confirmation) meet on Sunday
afternoons. Teachers and aides must be Confirmed and active, practicing
Catholics.
Roles: Catechists, Classroom Assistants, and
Administrative Assistants.
Requirements: No experience necessary! Catechists
must be confirmed, practicing Catholics with willingness to attend classes and
training sessions to improve understanding of the Catholic faith, as well as
enhance teaching methods. Must also be willing to work toward a Basic
Certificate of Catechists (tuition covered by parish)
Classes for K-12th grade run from September through May and are held on either
Saturday mornings, for the younger students and Sunday evenings, for the older
students. Special attention is given to the understanding of the Mass and the
importance of regular Sunday Mass attendance. Ministry is active through the
summer months preparation for the upcoming year.
The religious education of our children is one of the most vital functions of
our faith community. Please be open to God's call to this special ministry and
answer the call with a commitment for at least one year of service.

Pangelinan
Purpose: Volunteers provide outreach to
various groups to bring Christian comfort and encouragement to those in need.
They have monthly meetings to plan upcoming projects with have included
collecting needed items for families and other groups, visits to pediatric
wards, visits to Gregory House, Ronald McDonald House and providing gift baskets
to Hale O Hauoli senior residence house at Thanksgiving. All you need is a
loving heart and a desire to do good.
Requirements: Must be willing to give mostly of time, but not exclusively, to help collect and distribute items collected in various drives. All you need is a sincere heart and dedication to helping those less fortunate and in distress.

Fong
Purpose: Minister the Eucharist to the parish
community during Mass.
Duties:
In the absence of enough priests, volunteers minister the Eucharist at Masses,
Communion services as needed. Training and a handbook is provided.
Ministers operate in teams at Mass, setting up the vessels, linens, wine carafe
and hosts for Mass. They also stay back after Mass to cleanse the vessels
and set up for the next Mass. Volunteers must be practicing Catholics who
have been Confirmed and are in good standing with the Church. Monthly
schedules of assignment to Masses is provided.
Requirements: Practicing Catholic who has been
confirmed and is in full communion with the Church. Ministry formation training
and annual spiritual development is offered.

Purpose: To perpetuate the unique spiritual and
cultural heritage of our Catholic faith in the Filipino community.
Duties: To support the parish in its various
projects and activities such as cleaning of the church on the monthly basis,
conducting a Novena for a deceased family or member, monthly Rosary or by
special request, 9 day Novena to St. Joseph-Flores de Mayo.
Requirements: Practicing Catholic of Filipino
heritage.

Purpose: Every
parish is required to have a Finance Committee, by Canon Law. Membership
on the Committee is by invitation-of-the-Pastor only. The members develop
the annual budget to cover the needs of the Rectory and Ministries who are
allotted a budget. They act in consultation to the Pastor and advise him
on financial matters in general.
Duties: To help promote wellness through healthcare
and education.
Requirements: All
those interested in the healthcare field are urged to join.

Hospital Communion Ministers
Purpose: Members encourage the parishioners to take responsibility
for their own health to develop their spiritual well being. They provide blood
pressure check-ups at Aloha Sunday gatherings (4th Sunday of @
month). They need planners, health care professionals and all those interested
in promoting health. They could use anyone with access to health information
who could write a “health-tip” article for the bulletin.
Duties: To be an extension of our parish by
bringing communion as requested and assigned to those who are hospitalized at
Pali Momi Hospital.
Requirements: Practicing Catholic who has been
confirmed and is in full communion with the Church. Ministry formation training
and annual spiritual development is offered.

Purpose:
Service
to the homeless by cooking or serving dinner.
Duties:
On the fourth Wednesday of each month, choose to
cook dinner or serve dinner to the homeless at one two Honolulu Institute of
Human Services (IHS) shelters. Or choose to pick up donated desserts at the
Rectory and delivery them to the two IHS shelters.
Needs:
Two people to cook at the Men's Shelter, five
people to serve dinner at the Women's and Family Shelter, 12 to serve dinner at
the Men's Shelter and one person with to deliver desserts to two shelters.
Requirements:
Must be
willing to give about two hours of your time, one day a month and have a desire
to help those in need.

Purpose: Who are those men in purple
shirts? The Knights of Columbus is a U.S.-based Catholic men’s fraternal
organization with branches world-wide. Founded by Fr. McGiveny, they support
hundreds of initiatives, from Vatican programs to parish fundraisers. They
support pro-life issues and do all they can to support their respective Bishops
in their diocesan programs. At St. Elizabeth, they’ve supported blood donation
drives, canned goods drives, Living Rosary prayer and had fun with pancake
breakfasts.
Duties: Help strengthen the Catholic faith, serve
the Church, community and its members.
Requirements: Any practical Catholic gentleman, 18
years or older is eligible to join.

Purpose: To proclaim the Word of God at
Sunday Masses and other liturgical celebrations. Training, a Lector Handbook,
and an annual Lector Workbook is provided. Training is to determine whether the
individual has the skill to read clearly, with expression and devotion. A
monthly schedule and brief note from the Coordinator is provided. Lectors must
be Confirmed and in good standing with the Church.
Duties: Proclaim readings at all Masses, Holy Days
of Obligation and other celebrations planned throughout the year.
Requirements: Must be 16 years or older, confirmed,
in full communion with the Church and able to participate fully in the
celebration of the liturgy. Must have the ability to speak clearly and
understandably before a large group. Ministry formation training and annually
spiritual development is offered. You will be given formal training and 2
required information books.

Purpose: Their purpose is simple: to pray for others in their
time of need. No meetings, except an annual social gathering to meet each
other, since all the prayer requests are handled by telephone contact or email.
Prayer requests come through individuals as well as the Pastor.
Duties: To be able to accept phone calls to pray
and to also pass the call to another in a timely manner.
Requirements: A person with a desire to increase
their spirituality by helping others through prayer.

Purpose: Volunteers engage in outreach to our brothers in Christ who are inmates at Halawa CCC and Federal Prison to bring God’s Word to them and give them an opportunity to worship together and receive our Eucharistic Lord on a weekly basis. They need volunteers to assist at worship and lead in music. A formal application must be submitted to our Pastor after which the volunteer must attend Training provided by the State Dept. of Corrections. Volunteers must abide by Corrections rules of conduct and dress. Teams are scheduled for weekly rotations or as needed.

Purpose:
Ministers to adults in their search for faith and a close relationship with
Jesus Christ in the Catholic Church. Their primary ministry is to the
unbaptized. RCIA also welcomes members of other Christian denominations who
wish to become Catholics and Catholics who have not received Eucharist or been
Confirmed. Resources and a weekly Newsletter is provided.
RCIA needs and welcomes a diverse number of people to assist in this Journey of Faith, including: teachers, musicians, Sponsors, helping with hospitality, craft-lovers, seamstresses to make baptismal robes, people skilled with PC’s and photographers and anyone interested in helping to put on a twice-yearly retreat. Many times you can be of help on an as-needed basis.
Duties: To present the faith and nature the
spiritual life of the inquirers through the liturgical seasons of the Church,
the beginnings of a prayer life, a study of scripture and the life of Jesus, and
the practical living out of the Christian life in our parish. To recruit and
train sponsors who welcome and befriend the inquirers, journeying along with
them in their search for faith. Give retreats and introduce inquirers into life
of service out of love for Jesus.
Requirements: Inquirers - a sense of being
at the start of "something new" - and the courage to enter into the search for
faith, a sense of willingness to give faith a chance to work in you. Sponsors
must be fully-initiated Catholics, willing to listen and encourage others,
patient, understanding dependable. We also welcome other with special talents
and skills (musicians, artists, photographers, teachers, typists, computer
literates, etc., for short-term commitments.)

Purpose: To keep a watchful eye on the vehicles and
grounds while our parishioners attend Mass, meetings and other functions; and to
direct traffic to maximize the available parking areas.
Duties: To watch and walk through the parking areas
during church functions.
Requirements: Willingness to serve others.

Purpose:
Having
fun takes planning and dedication. The Social Committee plans parish events
from dances to holidays to buffets. The seasonal Valentine’s dance, Halloween
children's event, the Easter activities for families, all these are planned to
foster parish community bonds.
Duties: The planning of parish picnics, social, dinner
dances and other social events.
Requirements: Time and energy.

Liz Ishimitsu
Purpose: Founded by St. Vincent de Paul in
France, it coordinates providing material assistance to persons in need. The
group meets each Monday for an hour to discuss cases and how to provide
assistance. All information is confidential. Training in providing assistance
and assessment of the need is offered. Resources for financial needs is
provided through parish collection envelopes and diocesan resources.
Spirituality is emphasized in all of their works and members are taught to seek
the face of Christ in everyone they meet.
Duties: The principal works of SVD in Hawaii:
Providing material assistance to the needy, especially in the form of clothing,
and financial help. Providing some counseling to those who find themselves in
difficult situations. Acting as advocates for the rights of those in need. Home
visits and institutional visits, e.g., hospitals, care homes, etc. Collaboration
with other people of good with in relieving need and address its causes.
Requirements: Our organization is made up of
ordinary Christian people who are willing to help others in need whatever called
upon. In a friendly and cordial way, our members extended an invitation to these
families to join with us in the spiritual life of our church.
Time Involvement: Weekly meetings on Monday for 1
hour and additional time as needed for special projects and occasions.
